Frequently Asked Questions

What does Fab Lab do?
The simple answer is we custom manufacture highly engineered units for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM.)

Isn't that like a "job shop" or "contract manufacturer?"
In our view, those terms are too limiting. As part of Tech Investments (www.ti-kc.com) Fab Lab ACTIVELY seeks significant Statement(s) of Work irrespective of our existing facility utilization. This differs from a typical job shop or contract manufacturing business where current manpower, shop equipment or physical space are limiting factors.

With access to Tech Investments substantial technical and financial resources, Fab Lab provides comprehensive management and program solutions for specific OEM requirements. We believe solutions such as our proprietary Risk Sharing and Cost Reduction Business Model sets us apart from a typical job shop or contract manufacturer. We ask that interested, qualified personnel contact us directly for more information.

Does Fab Lab have a standard hourly rate?
Charging by the hour is the business model of a typical job shop. Our preferred method of business is to completely understand our customer's requirements. We then research available technology and offer an effective solution based on the required delivery date, an acceptable level of quality, and the target price.

How many shifts does Fab Lab operate?
We operate three shifts per day, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What are the normal business hours?
Fab Lab's office hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, CST Monday through Friday.

Is there a meaning to life?
There are no stupid questions, but some things are beyond the expertise of our engineers, machinists and business people.
